Dr. Kohles grew up nearby in Holland, NE, graduating with Dr. Parde in 1993 from Norris High School. He is a frequent lecturer at veterinary schools and conferences, both domestically and internationally, and serves on the World Pet Association Board of Directors, House Rabbit Society Advisory Council, Pet Food Industry Advisory Board, and is past chair of the Nebraska Board of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. Outside of the office, he enjoys anything outdoors, especially running, mountain biking, adventure racing, camping and canoeing when time allows.
Dr. Kohles and his wife, Ashley, have owned Woodland Animal Hospital since 2019. They are very passionate about providing high-quality quality affordable veterinary care to the Hickman area community. They have two boys, Tegan and Kai, and a daughter Taiya.
In August 2018, Dr. Parde-Graven joined Woodland Animal Hospital as Medical Director, where she has enjoyed growing the practice back in her hometown. Since coming onboard the clinic has expanded from just a vaccine clinic to a full service veterinary hospital offering surgery, dental procedures, radiographs/ultrasound and diagnostics.
In May 2022, she married a long-time cattleman, Adam Graven. They enjoy living on the acreage she grew up on with their dog Jersey, and several cats. In their free time, they enjoy golfing, traveling, attending purebred cattle events, and college athletics (football and volleyball).
Her small town upbringing instilled in her a strong sense of community, which is one of the many reasons she was drawn to Woodland Animal Hospital. Dr. Roth enjoys being involved in her community and giving back, and currently volunteers her time to multiple 4H programs and serves on the leadership team at Royal Family Kids Camp, a program that reaches foster children in the state.
Outside of her work, you can find Dr. Roth riding her horses, Oliver and Dazz, exploring new trails with her dog, Nala, catching up on Husker athletics, enjoying family time, or staying active playing sand volleyball.

Brad has a cat named Starvin Marvin who lives with him and also has a few horses. He gets to ride whenever he goes back to visit them in Guide Rock and helps his parents out on their farm. Brad is our expert cat wrangler and is our “go to” for our more perturbed patients due to his calm manner and he keeps us all safe and happy.
She has been a groomer for 20+ years but in a previous life she worked at the Misty's restaurant in Havelock where she once cooked a meal for Patrick Swayze!! At the clinic she has been quite the prankster. From the "cat in the walls" noise-maker that she had everyone looking for, to random cockroaches and toy snakes to startle us. She has certainly had her share of experience and career opportunities and we all feel very fortunate that she landed here to take care of our animals.
After working in Kearney for several years she was married to her husband, Zach, and took a break to raise her oldest child, Perry in 2009. During this time she focused mainly on family but did take on a bartending position, where she learned a lot about customer relations. She held this position for 4 years until her second child arrived in 2014, Corbin.
In 2014 Zach had a job change with the National Guard which brought them to the area and they settled in Hallam. It was at this time she decided to get back into her first passion, veterinary medicine. She went to work for Dr Lawrence Buller at Animal Care Clinic in Lincoln where she worked until he fell ill and sold his practice to the Flatwater Veterinary Group. She moved to Woodland to be closer to home and when the group sold the practice to Dr Kohles she stayed for the change.
She has always had a passion for animal health that started on the farm as a kid helping her dad with pigs, horses, and cattle. She truly loves her dogs as well, German Shepherds and Doberman Pinschers being her favorites. She currently owns two dogs: GSD, Cam, and her Super Mutt, Captain America. She also has two cats, Emmett Mitchell, and David Elliott.
In her personal life she has lots of varied interests from kayaking, camping and fishing to heavy metal concerts, darts, pinball and amateur mixology.
Karen has been a resident of Hickman since 2014 where she lives with her husband, two adorable Morkiepoos named Finn and Rue, and a Green-Cheeked Conure named Zazu. Karen has 2 college-aged kids, Ethan and Jocelyn. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, loves Mexican food, and traveling with her husband.
A chapter of her life led her to Wisconsin for a few years, where she had an opportunity to volunteer as a puppy raiser/trainer for WAGS (Wisconsin Academy of Graduate Service Dogs), it was during this time she first learned basic obedience along with a few more advanced skills; such as having the pup open the refrigerator door and retrieve dropped items. It was this experience sparked her interest in dog training.
Now back in Nebraska and a local of the community, she finds joy in the company of her two golden retrievers, a mini goldendoodle, three cats, four ducks, and three geese.
Throughout her career, Jacinda has worked in various veterinary clinics, and has always enjoyed working with animals. In early 2024, Jacinda became a part of the Woodland team.
Outside of work, she spends her free time with her family, her husband Brett, and their 3 kids, while also working her side job doing dog training and in-home dog boarding. Her childhood love for animals has blossomed into a fulfilling career.
